AMAR 2026 (6 Jul 2026)

Abstracts and registrations are now open for the Annual Meeting of Australian Rheologists (AMAR) 2026!

This year, AMAR will be held from the 6th- 9th July at The University of New South wales (UNSW), Sydney. The RheoSchool bootcamp will run from the 6th-7th and the conference proceedings will follow on the 8th-9th.

RheoSchool (06–07 July):

The School will extend beyond standard vendor training, offering master classes in core and emerging rheology techniques. Topics will cover rotational and capillary rheometry, small- and large-amplitude oscillatory shear, creep and recovery, interfacial rheology, micro-rheology, and advanced measurements that extend beyond viscosity. Sessions will also explore design approaches for practical complex fluids, modelling, data-driven experimental design, and the use of AI and machine learning in rheology. The content will be presented by leading experts in the field, such as Prof. Todd Squires (UC Santa Barbara) and A/Prof Patrick Spicer (University of New South Wales).

This will be the first school of its kind in Australia and is intended as the foundation for an ongoing series of schools. By combining hands-on learning with international expertise, the School will also attract new students to rheology and prepare EMCRs to make meaningful contributions across industries where soft matter and complex fluids are critical.

AMAR26 (08–09 July):

The AMAR conference proceedings will feature plenary speakers, such as Prof Todd Squires and provide a platform for those interested in sharing their work in rheology and connecting with like-minded researchers and industry professionals.

The ASR AGM will also be held during the AMAR proceedings. This is a great opportunity for current and new members to have their say on the growth and maintenance for the society.

Location details: AMAR will be held in the Colombo theatres, near the Colombo House colleges on the Kensington campus of UNSW.
